Biofuels are obtained from . There are two main categories: “gasoline” (ethanol) and “gas oil” ( ). Their evaluation in thousands of Barrels of Oil Equivalent (BOE) per day gives a basis for comparison with daily production (1 ton of oil = 7 barrels). World biofuel production is steadily increasing, the three leading producer countries being the United States, Brazil and Indonesia.
